The Aviation Law Committee is a small but enthusiastic section of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association. Our committee membership is drawn broadly from members from all round the globe with either an interest in the aviation industry or associated aerospace sectors including service providers to airlines, product manufacturers, maintenance organisations and both aviation and space risks insurers.

Our annual committee programme strives to encompass the interests of all of our members and we seek to secure a balance between current and legal topics of interest as well as having something to offer our industry-based members.

The 2008 annual conference was held at Los Angeles, USA. We had two very interesting panel discussions at the annual conference at Los Angeles on 28th and 29th April 2008. Both the panels attracted a high level of interest from the registered delegates.

The first panel was held in the afternoon 28th April 2008. The theme of the panel was the historic Cape Town treaty and its implications on aircraft financing. We had a powerful panel of five speakers from USA, Indonesia and Japan covering issues relating to the implications of the treaty in their respective jurisdictions.

On the 29th April 2008 we had a panel in the afternoon on airport infrastructure and the aviation industry. There were five speakers and they spoke on topics such as noise pollution, home land security, etc. This session also generated a lot of interest from the registered delegates.
