Women Business Lawyers
The Women Business Lawyers Committee provides an opportunity for women attorneys in the Asia-Pacific region and around the world to interact with one another in a professional and congenial forum to support each other in our practices and share knowledge, experience and ideas. The Committee presents a program at each annual IPBA meeting centered around a theme of practical interest to all attorneys, both male and female. Recent past presentations have included a discussion on the entry of foreign law firms into local jurisdictions, the role of mentors in the development of law firm leadership, and the art of successful networking. At the 2008 conference to be held April 27-30 in Los Angeles, the Committee’s topic will be “The Quest for Work-Life Balance in Legal Practice: The Essential Challenge and the Path to Integration”. In this two-part interactive discussion, presenters and facilitators will share issues related to balancing work and personal life. The first part of this discussion will explore time and task management challenges, examining cultural differences and opposing perspectives. The second session will provide strategies, ideas, and best practices for integrating work and life in ways that achieve both personal satisfaction and professional success. The panel will also examine ways that law firms and in-house legal departments can support lawyers in their quest for flexibility. The Committee is open to all IPBA members and encourages participation in its activities. Download a speech by Leila Seth at the IPBA Reception (PDF format). Documents
