The Legal Practice Committee is interested in the issues surrounding multi-disciplinary practices and partnerships, in which lawyers practice together (with varying degrees of integration) with other professionals, such as accountants. As a result, the Committee decided to present at the April 2001 IPBA Annual Conference in Tokyo, a program entitled "Multidisciplinary Practices and Partnerships: Impetus and Related Trends and Issues". This program will focus on the genesis of MDPs, the issues they raise for the legal profession - from both an ethical and business perspective - and will include a discussion of the current state and method of regulation of MDPs in the EEC, Japan, the United States, Singapore, New Zealand and Canada.
