The Legal Development & Training Committee (LDTC) was established in November 2001 as an informal committee of the IPBA. The objectives of LDTC are:
The LDTC commenced its training programs at the IPBA 12th Annual General Meeting and Conference in Hong Kong, China in May 2002. From 2004, with the appointment of the IPBA's first Director of Legal Development & Training, the LDTC committed, through its Training Plan, to providing at least four top quality low cost training programs for IPBA members and non-members annually. The LDTC works closely with its members and non-members in the countries which host its training programs. The LDTC strongly believes that the best programs are the ones that meet the needs and expectations of the host country audience and provide practical tips, tools and techniques that can be immediately put into practice post a training event. The LDTC actively encourages comments and suggestions for programs and expressions of interest from those who would like to work with it. Governance of the LDTC is provided by an Advisory Council, the LDTC itself and, as a committee if the IPBA, ultimately through the IPBA Council.
